
University Centers has opened a hoteling-style office space where UC San Diego students, staff, and faculty can reserve individual workstations, a private office, and collaboration spaces. Open Desk is the newest, most convenient place for the UC San Diego community to work or study.
Amenities include access to high-speed internet and Wi-Fi, sit/stand desk options, ergonomic office furniture, docking stations, a monitor in the private office, as well as a 360-degree video conferencing system for hybrid meetings.
How to Make a Reservation
As a first time user you must create an account before you can reserve a space. See link below to start the process. Below are detailed instructions on how to make a reservation once you have an account.
- Create your account (account creation can take up to 24 business hours). You will not be able to create a reservation without an account.
- Click Reserve Now button below.
- On the new EMS page, click “Login” under Registered Users
- Sign-in using the UCSD Single Sign On
- In the Top left, click “Create a Reservation”
- Click “book now” under “Reserve Spaces | Study Rooms & Open Desk”
- Select the date and times you are looking to reserve the space. Then fill in the number of people using the reservation.
- Click the blue Search box
- On the new reservation page, find the available rooms and select the room you’d like to use by clicking the green plus sign (+)
- In the Attendance & Setup Type pop-up window, fill in your selection and click “Add Room”. The Room should now appear under “Selected Rooms”.
- Click the blue “Next Step” box in the top right corner.
- Add any notes for your reservation. Click the blue “Next Step” box in the top right corner.
- Fill in the Event Name, which should be your First and Last Name.
- Fill in the Organization which should be “Group Study Room”.
- Fill in the remaining information.
- If everything looks correct, click the green “Create Reservation” box in the bottom right corner.

Individual Workstations

There are 10 individual workstations available to reserve.

- Quiet zone area (workstations # 2 - 5)

Small Collaboration Room
- Small group collaboration room
- Boardroom style set-up, for up to 4 people
- 40” monitor to connect to laptop
- High speed ethernet connection and Wi-Fi

Large Collaboration Room
- Hollow square, boardroom set-up for 12 people
- 80” monitor to connect laptop
- Owl Pro 360-degree video conference platform

Need to Know

Reservations are limited to a maximum of four hours per day.

Reservations are permitted once per day, per user, regardless of length.

Reservations are limited to a maximum of five (5) at one time

Reservations will be released if the user does not arrive within thirty (30) minutues of the scheduled start time.

Arrive with your UC San Diego ID card and reservation confirmation email.

It's always best to reserve your workstation in advance; however, feel free to stop by Open Desk during normal operating hours and our staff will be happy to assist you in making your reservation.
- No computers are provided at Open Desk. The space is set-up to plug-in and connect.
- Other than a provided connection port, you will need to bring your laptop, chargers and adaptors to connect to the ethernet.
